Dave decided to challenge himself today by only eating vegan food so he pulled out Brendan Brazier‘s Thrive Diet and whipped up almond flaxseed patties to eat with a side salad for his dinner with a smoothie for lunch. Oh and he also made another batch of that toasted apple cinnamon cereal (which I DID actually eat for breakfast with hemp milk yesterday. Go me!). Apparently he’s made this burger before and even his Dad liked it (which is saying something) so while I stare at it curiously with mild apprehension, I will give it a try. There’s even a pecan burger and a walnut burger. Fun times are ahead…I think… Read more »
Wakame Seaweed Salad
Wakame salad is one of my favorite dishes to eat with sushi. I found some wakame at Atwater Market and decided to make a salad for lunch. It turned out really yummy though the colour isn’t quite like a) the photo on the recipe web page or b) the wakame salad I get from the [...]
Bee Protein Shake
I knew I was going to like this. I actually *LOVE* this shake and I’ve definitely found my new morning shake to take with me to work. It tastes amazing! Thank you, Sarma!!! *** Bee Protein Shake from Sarma Melngailis‘ Raw Food, Real World Serves 2 to 4 (I halved the recipe to make one [...]
Cayenne Dill Dressing and Sweet Pepper Hemp Pesto
We are still ‘uncooking’! I think the plan is to prepare most of our food one day on the weekend so it’s all ready for the week. All of the dressings, burgers, and toppings last about 2 weeks in the fridge but of course, they taste best when fresh. And now, we give you two [...]
Almond Butter
The Bee Pollen Protein Shake recipe I want to make tomorrow morning calls for almond butter, so instead of buying almond butter at the store, we opted to make some instead. All it takes is 3 cups of raw almonds in the Vitamix and after blending it on high while mashing it down with the masher [...]
Chocolate Blueberry Energy Bars
Here’s another Thrive Diet recipe. We just finished making these along with a new batch of apple sauce in the Vitamix. *** Chocolate Blueberry Energy Bars from Brendan Brazier‘s Thrive Diet “High in antioxidants and flavonoids, these bars help reduce free radical damage in the body and improve cellular recovery.” 1 cup fresh or soaked [...]

Orange Chipotle Chicken
March 4th, 2011
Kelly Dave tried this recipe from a Clean Eating magazine a few days ago and I LOVED it. He decided he would try to make modifications next time around as it wasn’t quite what he was looking for in terms of the flavour (he expected more of an orange flavour), however I was perfectly happy with it as is. I am so glad I had extra rice and cilantro as it was really delicious with the extra chicken marinade. Read more »
Shrimp Scampi Linguini & Garlic Bread
February 12th, 2011
Kelly We finally got Videotron installed this week and we have been able to watch all kinds of TV. TLC reality wedding, baby and cooking shows are a guilty pleasure. Yesterday I watched Kitchen Boss after Cake Boss and watched Buddy make a shrimp scampi linguini dish with garlic bread made from compound butter. We decided to try it tonight for a small dinner party before the hockey game but because Dave is allergic to shrimp, we made a chicken version as well.
Thank you Kitchen Boss for an awesome Saturday evening dinner. DELISH! Read more »
